I was trying to finish the laundry and was getting ready to repaint my toenails. Sara had just gotten up and said she couldn't sleep. She saw that I was on my way to the bathroom to search for the nail polish remover and thought I might help her touch up her manicure that she had gotten for the prom last week.
Yes, I am still talking about 1:00 in the morning.

Anyway, so I am sitting on the bathroom floor, rummaging through the cabinet looking for the polish remover when something moving catches my eye.......
I said to Sara, "Look, we have a mouse in the cabinet"......

now, for those who know my darling oldest child, they know that she is not one given to much physical exertion and is certainly not known for sudden movement.....ever. Well, today she would have impressed many with her sudden change in personality.

So I get up and track down Sara and make sure she gets the camera on her way back to the bathroom. Being the slightly odd mom that I am, I was a bit sad that the other kids were sleeping and would miss out on this little excitement so I was thinking pictures were in order. That and the next time Ben is working another outage and gone 6 days a week, 12 hours a day........midnight shift for 5 weeks in a row, I will have something to prove all the hardships the girls and I endure while he is gone.

OK, back to the mouse.......I was really trying to figure out what to do about this little problem. I wanted go to sleep at some point tonight/this morning and knew that would not be possible unless I found some way to catch our little friend. So, along with the camera I told Sara to get, I remembered the box that was sitting on the kitchen counter waiting to mail a gift to my Dad.....

I was thinking this was the answer.....and before you all start snickering.........
it worked! lol!
It took a little convincing but the little thing crawled right into the box,
almost back out of it,
(I've really got to give Sara a lot of credit for the above picture, She managed to get one of
both of my feet on the floor, a real accomplishment!

)

and now he is safely confined, awaiting the return of my husband who will be inheriting this little surprise when he gets home in a few hours.
Fun stuff around our house in the wee hours of the morning.
